What started as a full redesign of the Warwickshire Education Services (WES) service catalogue in 2018 has become an ongoing graphic design project with annual updates across print and digital channels.
The volume of information and length of the publication required a graphic design solution that hit two core objectives:
A clear structure to ensure easy navigation and readability.
Flexibility to keep spreads varied to maintain visual appeal.
A modular grid system was developed with the client to meet the catalogue’s design objectives.
It is based on 5mm increments which maintains a visual harmony from section to section.
Thick confident lines, purposeful use of type weight and size, and a simple colour code make content easy to navigate and absorb. While the grid system allows for a wide variety of spread compositions
The digital version has hyperlinks for easy navigation, as well as tags and alt text to increase accessibility for screen readers.
We chose quality uncoated stock for the print version. The paper gives the catalogue a tactile quality and softens the colours for a more comfortable reading experience.
Working with Dennis [on this catalogue design project] is a pleasure – as well as his high-quality marketing and design skills, his customer care and support is excellent too.
