Graphic design and character animation come together for this IndieGo PLUS explainer animation.
IndieGo PLUS, is a ride share app developed by Warwickshire County Council. DC Design Works had developed a brand identity and logo for the service already.
Now the client needed a punchy explainer animation to guide users through the app features, how to create their account, and how book a ride.
From storyboards to delivery the objective was to help the audience feel confident when they use IndieGo Plus.
As with most projects, the first proposals came in the form of storyboards, with visual reference on the graphic design approach. Once storyboard and script were approved we progressed to building the assets.
A simple, grain-shaded visual style was chosen for the character and graphic elements. This softer visual approach was selected to contrast to the more technical script and make the content feel warmer and more approachable.
Once graphic design assets were approved the project moved into the motion graphics phase. An animation rate of 12 frames per second – often used in classic animated features – built on the grain-shaded approach to give the movement the familiar, playful feel you see here.
