Warwickshire County Council needed a event photographer to capture this vibrant event for press releases and future promotional use.
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Road Race was held in the historic, county town of Warwick.
Set in the historic county town of Warwick, the project required strong logistics planning with the county council, as well as other freelance event photographers, to capture the different sections of the race route.
Bright sunlight and shifting cloud was the real challenge on the day. I had to use various lens filters (and patience) to capture key moments as they presented themselves.
Above all else, communication with the team throughout the event was key. It ensure key locations and segments of the route were covered as the competitors sped through.
The results are these vibrant shots which capture the colour and drama of the occasion. Beyond a record of this event, these photographs will serve the client well for future promotional work around the Women’s Tour – a cycling event that passes through Warwickshire.
